Steve Westlake finishes 2nd in Jetts City Surf Series

Results just in from the Jetts City Surf Series in New Zealand, a stand up paddleboard race series in Auckland that attracts several hundred competitors each week, including pretty much all the top racers. And after the last race of the series, Red Paddle Co rider Steve Westlake has finished 2nd overall in the mens raceboard division, with an incredible series of results including two 1st place finishes and 6 2nds. Steve and NZ’s top youth racer Oscar Murrell were scrapping it out at the top of the rankings for pretty much the entire series, Oscar just pipping Steve to the post at the final showdown, riding the latest carbon Starboard racing machine. Whereas Steve was on his trusty Red Paddle Co Elite 12’6, and loving it.

The series saw a variety of conditions, flat water to 25 knot winds and big swells and chop. A true test of the all round ability of both board and rider, and another fabulous result for Steve, following on from his 1st place overall in the 8km race at the NZ National Championships.
