Inflatable paddle boarding with Heli SUP Adventures

A HeliSUP Adventure –an epic adventure promising jaw dropping views and inflatable paddle boarding in iconic locations.

A SUP adventure is always special. Whether it’s a sunrise paddle to the Sydney harbour bridge or an epic solo expedition on hidden waterways. Here at Red Paddle Co, we are always inspired by the paddling adventures shared by our global SUP community. So, when we discovered Sarah Carlisle, owner of Venture Out Australia, had paired helicopter flights with an inflatable paddle board tour, we couldn’t wait to find out more.

SUP from the sky: Inflatable paddle boarding with a difference.

Still in its first year the HeliSUP tour has evolved from Sarah’s passion for SUP and the waterways which surround her coastal town in Victoria. Sarah desired to see the environment which encompassed Lakes Entrance from a different perspective. Promising jaw dropping views and paddling in the infamous location the tour was a match made in SUP heaven.

How did your HeliSUP adventures grow?

Sarah:  I knew this would be a brand-new experience in Australia and it was just a matter of how to make it to work. Lucky for us Lakes Entrance Helicopters came to town and once they heard our pitch, were eager to collaborate. Pairing the helicopter scenic flight over the Gippsland Lakes with a guided SUP tour was easy and made possible with our fleet of Red Paddle Co inflatable paddle boards. Being able to deflate the SUPs mean we don’t need special cargo racks on the helicopter and the rigidity of the inflatable boards make our paddle back to the Lakes Entrance easier, as no matter the conditions they are extremely stable and enable you to glide through the water.

What does the HeliSUP entail?

Sarah:Paddlers will join the tour from the Venture Out shop in Lakes Entrance. It is only a short drive to the Heli site and we leave the boards deflated ready to load onto the helicopter. The package includes an 8 minute scenic flight, with a landing near Ninety Mile beach. Once on the beach, the group will inflate their SUPs before hitting the crystal clear waters, on the look out for any dolphins or seals that may be playing. The whole experience lasts around 3 hours with 2 hours on the water – it really does take inflatable paddle boarding to the next level.

It sounds amazing, how do we sign up?

Sarah: Just book in! Skill instruction is provided on the day, so no prior SUP experience is required, and you’ll be on your feet, cruising the water in no time. Paddle boarding is so accessible, anyone can try and I love converting people to it- it’s both a social and relaxing form of working out with a great view.
