Awesome piece of kit

Very cool design, and a great starter for my child.

An option for a t-nut would be a wonderful thing.

Cheers.

So far so good!

I'm a total windsurfing newb but this really affordable rig (4.5 m) is holding up well so far (4 or 5 outings or so), despite some rough handling on my part. It fit perfectly into my Aqua Marina Blade inflatable WinSup. I like how everything is snug and doesn't require much tampering or adjustment. That said, some things do need breaking in, like the end of the chute in the sail that the mast passes through. Don't try to tighten the sail until the mast is fully through that end bit!

This is my first sail so far so I couldn't say where it ranks. I couldn't even tell you what makes a high performance sail. At this point most of my limitations can be chalked up to human error and weather, as opposed to anything with the equipment, and certainly not much to do with the rig.

That said, there are a few things to keep in mind. It's hard to tell if the mast base is locked in just based on the click sound. Once I really thought I clicked it in but it popped out later. The next time I squeezed it in well and didn't just rely on the click and it stayed attached perfectly. I will also say that the carry bag for the rig had a tear in it on arrival. Also, the boom clamp needs to be set as tight as you can get it while still being able to clamp it down. I had it slip down the mast once when I was uphauling and that sent me flying backwards into water. After adjusting the clamp it never happened again.

The main thing I ask for is durability in the sail to get me through the rough…

Great Product!

Great quality of product at an excellent price. Using it to teach kids to windsurf, all parts seem strong and durable. No T-nut included to fit standard windsurfing board, but fits the standard 8mm stud which is easy to find and cheap.

Windsurf rig

The sail seems to be made of very thin and flimsy plastic. Disappointing for the high cost and, I’m worried about how long it is going to last. Hopefully my concerns will prove unfounded.

Red Equipment Canada

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your review and wanted to let you know that the mono film and Dacron used on our sails is the standard material used on pretty much all windsurf sails and particularly beginner windsurf sails due to it's durability. You do need to be slightly careful when on the beach to avoid any spikes like any material but general water use it will be more than up to the job.

Kind regards
Luke
